In spring 2023, John Robertson Architects completed The Northcliffe House, converting the former Daily Mail printing plant on Tudor Street into 26,200 sqm of modern office space. The historic Art Deco façade was preserved while the top floors were extended and new landscaped terraces introduced.

Around 4,000 customised Lina80 luminaires were installed, totalling more than six kilometres of lighting integrated directly into the metal ceiling. Their precise fit was a key aesthetic requirement, and a new optical system was developed to reduce energy use and cut material consumption, including a 40% reduction in aluminium.

The lighting design was further enhanced with Rundo62 circular luminaires and Ture and Ravo downlights, all of which can be individually dimmed and linked to the building’s central control system to optimise energy use. This smart integration allows the lighting to adapt to movement and occupancy, providing additional operational savings. Phil Winzar of ISG highlighted Halla’s early delivery, thorough lighting calculations, careful packaging, and consistently high product quality, noting that only 12 luminaires out of almost 5,000 showed defects—and all were due to transport or installation handling rather than manufacturing issues.
